High-temperature, high-stress moving engine
components Heavy, non-moving structures (variable
gaps) Honeycomb and other thin materials Automotive industry Nuclear reactor core assemblies (see
note) For large, machinable or softer fillets For use in contact with NaK * These filler metals have been tested and approved by DOE laboratories and by private manufacturers of nuclear reactors. Tests were conducted on brazed joints of type 304 and 301 stainless steel and Inconel base metals. For use with tight or deep joints Note: Other filler metals contain boron which has a high neutron absorption rate. Those materials may be used in nuclear plant equipment, but not in the core. |
