The video can be viewed at: www.wallcolmonoy.com/news/wcvideo.html May, 2010 FAA recommends replacing mufflers on any reciprocating engine-powered airplane with more than 1,000 hours on the muffler The FAA recently tasked Wichita State University to conduct research on carbon monoxide safety issues as they apply to general aviation products. The report states that when CO poisoning was the related factor in accidents, the muffler system was the top source. Furthermore, 92 percent of the incidents had a muffler with more than 1,000 hours of service life. Due to this report, the FAA has recently issued a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin in which they recommend replacing mufflers on any reciprocating engine-powered airplane with more than 1,000 hours on the muffler. March, 2010 Aerobraze Europe Installs New Furnace Control Systems
Wall Colmonoy is pleased to announce that Aerobraze Europe has just invested in new state of the art control systems for its 6 vacuum furnaces. The new furnace control panels utilize Eurotherm ‘Eycon 20’ displays and T2550 I/O modules (see picture). This is supported by the latest Eurotherm furnace control software which became available mid 2009. The new system is already providing benefits by reducing operator hours and allowing the furnaces to be monitored remotely. In the event of a power outage the controls are programmed to restore the furnace conditions to those in force immediately before power was lost. Various scenarios are pre-programmed to ensure that this is achieved in an appropriate manner.
A Eurotherm SCADA system is used as the master for storing programs; it also provides back-up data storage and the interface for remote monitoring via the web. The software is also reducing the time required to produce temperature uniformity surveys. The new system meets Nadcap requirements, is able to produce Nadcap compliant reports, and provides the option for remote monitoring and control. Furnace operators are finding the new system to be very user friendly and many standard furnace cycles are now embedded within the processor memory. Each furnace has its own data logging capability and can store up to 1000 furnace cycles. All process files are fully auditable and tamper proof. Aerobraze is a Division of Wall Colmonoy Corporation, a privately held Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business headquartered out of Madison Heights, MI. The Aerobraze Division has locations in Cincinnati, Oklahoma City, and Wales UK. Aerobraze is ISO certified, and holds NADCAP process certifications (heat treat / brazing, welding, chemical processes, NDTs and coatings). Aerobraze also provides a full line of machining capabilities to produce part and assemblies as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and a Repair & Overhaul (R&O) company in support of the aerospace, aviation and automotive industries.
